The Iron King – Julie Kagawa

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There’s this feeling I get when I give a good review to a much hated book. This book is going to be one of them.

I get that some of you may say that the author describes everything too much, and it’s true, but you can just skip over those parts if you don’t appreciate it. For me, when the author is capable of describing so many different creatures in detail, it means she thought well about a book and worked very hard on it.

Some of you also say that Meghan ans Ash’s relationship is too rushed and unrealistic…. Well… yes, it kind of is, but if you were about to die on an impossible quest, and one REALLY HOT GUY is with you helping you and everything, there will be an attraction towards each other.

In fairness, they did NOT push through with their relationship until the next few books, which gave them time to settle their feelings and decide if it is real or not. They didn’t act on their attraction without thinking of the consequence, so that’s a plus for them.

Basically, I really love the plot. It’s such a high-key fantasy, and the pacing was well written.
